Installing Exsion Reporting

1.0 Ready to get started with Exsion Reporting?
In this article, we will guide you through the installation process with a concise step-by-step on how to:
- Set up Exsion on Business Central;
- Download the Excel AddIn, and;
- Establish a connection between the two for your initial download.

In order to install Exsion Reporting a few requirements are needed as explained below.
- Administration rights to Business Central;
- Administration rights on your own computer to download the program file for the Excel AddIn.
2.0 Requirements
Microsoft AppSource
Exsion Reporting is an excel-based software that extracts data from Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Exsion Reporting in Excel
You can easily start by downloading Exsion Reporting directly from Microsoft AppSource and activating your free-trial license.

3.0 Downloading from Business Central
At Business Central, click on the "Search" button on the top right corner and search for AppSource.
Click on Microsoft AppSource apps.
At the AppSource window, search for Exsion and click on Exsion Reporting in Excel:
The pop up below will display additional information about Exsion.
You can then click on View on AppSource:
By clicking on View on AppSource, you will be redirected to the page below.
Click on Free trial:
A pop up will ask you to confirm your details, if everything is correct press "Free Trial"
If you have access to more than 1 environment, a pop up will display to ask in which environment you want to install Exsion at, make your selection and press "Install".
An end-user may have access to multiple environments in Business Central.
For each environment a new license of Exsion Reporting must be obtained, and a new connection must be established.
Then you can choose and press install.
4.0 Excel AddIn
After completing the steps above, you should be able to search for "ExsionBC" and visualize the window below:
Click on 'ExsionBC - Info'. Here you can click on the link: "Download the set up".
This will download a .exe file which you can then double click to start the installation wizard.
Make sure excel is closed before starting the installation.
Follow the steps on the installation wizard to complete the download.
When you re-open Excel, you will see a ribbon named ExsionBC. If you don't see it, check our 'Frequently asked questions' on how to solve it.
By clicking on 'Activate', you can request trial license on the pop up below.
Fill in your data and press Request.
Make sure to enter a valid work e-mail so that you can receive the activation code.
You will get a confirmation e-mail like the one below with a confirmation code.
Insert the confirmation code below and press activate.
Now you have ExsionBC activated with all functionalities enabled.
In the next step you will establish a connection to Business Central.
5.0 Establishing a Connection to BC
Back on Business Central, you can search for ExsionBC info again and then copy the link on the SOAP-URL box.
At ExsionBC click on Connection and New connection.
Paste the link from the SOAP URL in the box of the field of the same name.
Give a name for your connection and you are done!
You can name your connection anything you like, as it's a personal choice.
If you have several connections, organize them by adding numbers to the names for easy reference.
