Your Business Central reports, refreshed and delivered on time
ExsionTime refreshes Exsion reports on a fixed schedule. You set up a report in Business Central and define its tasks and schedule there. A Windows service on your own server or PC then refreshes the report and saves the result as Excel, PDF or CSV, or sends it by email. One report can have multiple tasks, each with its own filters and recipients.
ExsionTime is an add-on to Exsion Reporting. You build the report in Excel as you’re used to, and ExsionTime makes sure it runs and reaches the right people — without anyone having to click refresh.
How it works
Step 1
Build the report in Excel
Create the report with Exsion Reporting, exactly as you would for manual use. Nothing changes about how you build it.
Step 2
Upload it to Business Central and schedule it
The report lands in a library inside Business Central. There you create one or more tasks, each with its own filters, recipients, file name and email text, and set when each task runs.
Step 3
A Windows service refreshes and delivers it
A service on your own server or PC picks up the task, refreshes the report from Business Central, and delivers the result as Excel, PDF or CSV: by email, or to a folder, on OneDrive, or via FTP.
What you get
One report, many recipients
Each task has its own filters, recipients, file name and email text. The same report can go to every branch manager or entity controller, each with only their own figures.
Multiple reports in one email
Reports can be sent together. The other reports are refreshed without being sent separately, and are attached to the task that sends. The recipient gets one email with the complete package.
Delivery where people work
Send the result by email, or save it to a folder, on OneDrive, or via FTP.
The library lives in Business Central
Scheduled reports are stored in Business Central itself. You control access with Exsion’s permission sets.
Every run is logged
The status and any errors of each run are logged in Business Central and on the server, so you can see what was sent and what wasn’t.
What ExsionTime needs
This is worth knowing before you start, not after.
A machine that’s always on
ExsionTime runs as a Windows service on a machine with Excel and the Exsion add-in (ExsionBC) installed. There’s no hosted version. A server is preferred over a workstation, because the machine needs to be running when the schedule fires.
A connection that’s refreshed periodically
The connection to Business Central needs to be refreshed periodically. How often depends on your own security policy. If your month-end close relies on scheduled runs, plan the refresh around that.
Recipients work from their inbox or a folder
The report library in Business Central is available to Business Central users. Recipients outside Business Central get the refreshed result by email or in a folder, not through a separate web portal.
Coming from Jet Hub?
The key difference: Jet Hub schedules from the browser; ExsionTime needs its own machine that’s always on. In exchange, your schedules and report library live in Business Central, under the same permission model as the rest of your Exsion environment.
What the switch involves: every person on a Jet distribution list becomes a task on the report, with their own filters, recipients, file name and email text, and the Jet reports themselves need to be converted to Exsion. It works for a month-end close that relies on Jet Hub, but plan for a migration project, not a switch you flip.
